nero FAQ

How do I take general care of my nero swimskin?

Rinse out in fresh water after each use. Allow to dry inside out, away from direct sunlight before turning the suit back in the right way once the internal material has dried.  Store dry.  Do not leave in direct sunlight, hot vehicles or in trunks for any extended period of time.
For best results put on dry, then warm up and readjust the suit before racing. An optimum fit is achieved if the suit is readjusted once it is wet.

What size should I get in the nero?

There is a sizing chart on our website, however, you may fall between two different sizes.  If this is the case, it is a matter of personal preference.  We at blueseventy believe that tighter does not necessarily equal better. There is a compression component to the suits, but it is not the key factor in enhancing performance. There is a point at which facilitating an optimal stroke is advantageous to performance. This is often a personal preference, and why we recommend trying a suit on or getting properly fitted before purchasing wherever possible.

Additionally any suit that is too tight could cause a more rapid decay in its material, shortening its natural lifespan. Once you have identified a size or two sizes that you fall into, then if you are an elite/ experienced swimmer, (with a lot of experience in the use of race suits, and someone prepared to be very patient and put the suit on very slowly), would probably lean towards a smaller size choice. In our experience, these athletes tend to prefer an aggressively tight fit.
Anyone else should lean towards a larger suit when undecided between two sizes. If ordering by mail, it is possible to purchase both options and return the one that you do not require, as long as it is repackaged and returned unused.  An administration fee of USD$10 or equivalent in local currency, will be charged if suits are returned creased, or incorrectly repackaged.

How long should it take to put on a nero?

It can take anywhere from 5-10 minutes. If it takes over 10 minutes you are putting on a suit that is most likely a size too small.  If it takes less than one minute to put on a bodyskin, you may need to go to a smaller size.

What is the difference between the nero comp and the nero 10K?

The nero 10K is our open water suit. This suit is specifically designed with feedback from 10km Marathon World Cup swimmers. The zipper is specifically designed to enhance strength and reduce failure if clogged with sand and grit. There is also more fabric on the upper back, allowing a more conservative fit across the neck and shoulders to ease restriction as swimmers may be wearing this suit for 5-25km events.

The nero comp is aggressively tailored to meet the needs of pool swimmers, and specific features have been incorporated based on feedback from Olympians, Age Groupers and Masters’ swimmers that race in the pool. It has low drag flat zippers, which are noticeably less bulky and reduce resistance during turns and dives. It also has a deeper shoulder gusset and tight fitting compression across the shoulders and back, which reduces drag at very high speeds.

How many swims should I expect from a nero suit?

General expectation is 25 swims, however proper care and sizing can extend the life of the suit. We expect all suits to last approximately one regular race season.

Where can I buy a nero swimskin from?

The nero is a specialist suit and is sold only through dedicated “Swimming” stores and coaching networks. By purchasing from them, you will receive the extra care and advice that is crucial to the proper fit and performance of your race suit. Whilst you can purchase online, this is not recommended unless you have had the opportunity to be fitted correctly at a meet, or have a lot of experience with race suits. Please visit the website and look for a store under our ‘pool swimming’ page. We only deal with stores and people that understand swimming and swimmers, and know how best to fit you in a suit.
