Last weekend’s racing news write up

24 Jul 2008

ITU Kitzbühel, Austria

The last ITU race of the year saw many of the top ranked athletes in the world in attendance.
Many of these athletes are gearing up for the Olympic Games including blueseventy’s Bevan Docherty (2004 Games silver medalist). Bevan placed fourth at this weekend’s ITU world cup which he was happy with considering he is a few weeks away from Beijing and yet to hit top form.
Sam Warriner (also a blueseventy athlete and fellow Olympian) managed yet another podium and is proving to be one of the hot contenders at Beijing. She placed third in Austria.

70.3 Vineman, Bozzone wins AGAIN!!

Terrenzo Bozzone was initially thought to be the third member of the NZ Olympic team but was unfortunately and unexpectedly wasn’t selected. This has provoked a turn back to 70.3 races, in which he has showed that not only is he a world class ITU distance racer (he placed 6th at last year’s 70.3 World Championship), but he is also one of the best in the sport over the Half Ironman distance also. Terenzo recently won the 70.3 Vineman beating 2007 70.3 World Champion Craig Alexander. This is after his prior wins at 70.3 Boise, AND 70.3 Kansas!
blueseventy athlete Joanna Zeiger has proved she is fine form, winning yet another race by taking the victory honors at 70.3 Vineman starting the day as she finished - at the front.
