We're thrilled to form a partnership with the USA Pentathlon program that will have the athletes training and competing in our award-winning swim gear as they compete in qualifying events for the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio. The swimming competition in Modern Pentathlon is a 200m freestyle race for both men and women with athletes seeded in heats according to their personal best time.
Our sponsorship manager, Ryan Vanderloop, has strong faith that the team has already begun to reap the benefits. “A few of the athletes have used our pool competition suits and goggles for a year now. The rest of the team was impressed and that buzz got us talking. To outfit the entire US Elite squad is an honor and so far their numerous podium results stand for themselves. We are looking forward to seeing them on the world-stage in Rio.”
Dr. Genadijus Sokolovas, the High Performance Director for USA Pentathlon at the Olympic Training Center in Colorado Springs, CO has seen positive results in athlete performances. "blueseventy swimsuits helped USA Pentathlon athletes to break their personal best times multiple times during the last season. Our athletes are excited to continue using blueseventy gear as they prepare for the 2016 Olympics. blueseventy is a company with a longstanding history as a market leader and is dedicated to producing the highest quality swim and triathlon gear."
The Modern Pentathlon consists of pistol shooting, fencing, swimming, horse riding and running. The sport has been a core sport of the Olympic Games since 1912, and since 1949 an annual World Championship has been held. Both men and women complete all five events of the Modern Pentathlon in one day. A points system for each event is based on a standard performance earning 1000 points. The fifth and final event is a 3km Run, which has a handicap start based on the athletes' total points from the first four events. The winner of the competition is the first athlete to cross the finishing line.
